Storm Eunice

Hi everyone, Adam here.

As you might have noticed, Storm Eunice is passing the UK today, with the Met Office issuing an Amber Warning for high winds in our area between 3am and 9pm, and a further Red warning active between 10am and 3pm.

While our lessons fall into the tail end of the window, it’s still quite likely that we may be effected, most likely through knock-on effects such tree’s in the road or power cuts. With that in mind, we may have to cancel our classes today.

As I live near the hall, I will be able to find out if the hall has been effected and will let you all know via this website and our usual social media platforms. I will aim to post an update by 5pm this evening.

Please follow the travel advice given. If you don’t feel it is safe to travel then please don’t. If you can’t make it then please text either Julia or I to let us know you won’t be coming tonight.

Stay safe!

EDIT 12:01 – Julia has had trees down in her area and confirmed she won’t be coming tonight.

EDIT 17:00 – I have been to the hall and found the heating was not on, making the hall very cold for training

The Return of Gradings!

We are pleased to announced that we currently planning on holding our next grading on Friday 25th March 2022!

Now for the important details:
The grading will run during normal class times, meaning we will need all students to be prompt and on time for classes so that we have enough time to grade all students.

Grading fee’s will need to be in 2 weeks beforehand with your Budo pass on Friday 11th March. We can accept cash or cheques (made payable to ‘J Davies’) but not any credit or debit cards.

As a reminder, here are the grading fee’s for both classes:

Juniors (Children’s class) Seniors (Adults class)
  • White to Green belts: £26
  • Blue+White to Brown+White belt: £31
  • Brown Belt: £25
  • Black+White (1st Dan): £60
  • White to Green Belts: £31
  • Blue+White to Brown+white belts: £41
  • Brown Belt: £35
  • Black (1st Dan): £120

You will also need to make sure your patches are sewn onto your Gi in the correct location(s), which can be found here:

Lastly, we will be doing some ‘Mock’ gradings between now and the actual grading to help students judge their own progress as well working out where they may still need to practice.

Coronavirus / COVID-19 Update #10

In light of the news on Wednesday 8th December that the UK government would move ahead with ‘Plan B’, we thought it would be prudent to give you a quick update of our plans.

The good news is that so far there aren’t any changes we need to make. As a refresher, here is our Coronavirus / COVID-19 Policy.

However, as we only have one week of lessons left this year and then a 3 week break, it is possible that the WJJF or Scouts will ask for changes to be implemented between now and when we return on Friday 14th January. If that happens, we will of course let you know if that happens.

Christmas break 2021 and later 2022 return

Where has the time gone?

We have just a couple of weeks of classes left for this year, this coming Friday 10th December and Friday 17th December, before we break up for Christmas.

Our Christmas break will be slightly longer this time around as the 9th Aylesbury Scouts (who’s hall we use) will be using the hall on Friday 7th January, which would have been our first class back. This will mean that our first classes of 2022 will be on Friday 14th January 2022.

We have updated the opening times page for all the expected dates for all of 2022.
