A social media update

Hello all, Sensei Adam here.

As you may know, I am the main person behind all of our social media accounts. Julia has access and does respond to messages, but generally most of the time it’s me. I’d like to talk with you today about our social media usage, and more importantly which sites we use going forward.

First and foremost, I’ve decided that we’re going to stop using Twitter (or ‘X’ as it’s known now’.)

The reason is fairly simple – Twitter have announced or implemented significant changes to the site that affect how easy it is to use. Most notably for us is the ability to schedule Tweets in advance. I often schedule posts for a week or two in advance so that they can go out at time when I am unable to post.

I’m not going to delete our account, but I am going to post a final tweet directing any users there to other places we can be found. I’m also going to disable messages though there because I won’t be responding to them.

Which brings me to the next point – Where else should we be?

Our other main advert point is through the ‘Meta’ family of services; Facebook, Instagram and Threads. I am aware that many people are averse to using Facebook now, which is why I’d like to ask what other social media platforms people are active on, or would like to see us using. Please do let us know.

In case you aren’t aware of where else we exist on the internet, I have updated our ‘Elsewhere on the web‘ page, and created a Linktree profile to do the same.

I’m going to continue routinely posting to the Facebook page and Instagram profile as I have been, but I’d also like to re-start using the Facebook group.

The group was always intended to be more of a two-way community area, where as the page is more geared towards sharing updates and reminders. I’ve posted some Ju-jitsu resources there in the past and I’d like encourage others to do the same.

Keeping within the ‘meta’ family, I have now created a ‘Threads‘ profile. It’s app only at the moment and we can’t yet schedule posts, but as it is designed to be a replacement for Twitter, I’m going to try using it as such.

The other service I am going to try using more is our Whatsapp group. This is a closed group that either Julia or I have to add/invite people into, because in the past when we had a public link it got flooded with spam messages. If you’d like to be added, then please let us know.
