This is a follow up to our previous post.

Last weekend one of the students in the children’s class tested positive for Covid-19, and their parents let us know on Monday. Naturally we wish them a fast recovery.

We contacted the parents of the other students in last Friday’s class and advised them to get PCR tests for them. So far we have heard back from all but two. All three of our coaches have also undergone PCR tests which have come back as negative for all three, meaning we can open tomorrow (3^rd December 2021) as expected.

A parent of a child who attended the below class has informed us their child tested positive for Covid-19 over the weekend.

Date of class: 26/11/2021
Class effected: Children’s class

We have emailed the parents of other children in the class that night. PLEASE CHECK YOUR EMAILS IF YOUR CHILD ATTENDED THIS PAST FRIDAY NIGHT. You may have also been contacted by NHS test and trace already.

If not, you are advised to book a PCR test for your child as soon as possible. This can be done via the gov.uk website – https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test Should you test positive you will need to follow NHS instructions and isolate for 10 days. Both senseis Julia and Adam have taken lateral flow tests and have PCR tests arranged. Until we know their results, we cannot yet confirm if the classes for 3/12/21 will go ahead or not.

EDIT: We have re-sent the email to parents, as we had previously sent the email in Gmail’s ‘confidential mode’ which is meant to make sure it only goes to the right people by asking them to sign in to their email account. However this gave it the appearance of it being some type of scam.

Waiting list update

As the deadline for past students has now passed, we now have a small number of spaces available for the children’s class.

As such, we have begun reaching out to people on the waiting list. Please check your inbox / spam folder for an email from dragonspiritaylesbury@gmail.com. The subject line will read “Dragon Spirit Ju-Jitsu – Place Available“.

We are giving everyone we have emailed (or will email) 1 week to reply. If we have not heard from you in a week, we will assume you do not want the place and offer to the next people on the list.
If you have not yet received an email from us, then you may soon!

Final reminder!

Since we reopened back in July, we have reached out to everyone we had on register as of March 2020, to find out who is interested in returning and who is not.

This has been due to our children’s class using a waiting list, so we need to know who is planning on returning and who is not in order to start offering places to people on the waiting list.

So far about 70% have responded and many of those have been training with us over the summer! Others have responded to let us know they plan on returning after the summer holidays. This leaves us with a minority who either haven’t responded at all, or have not officially signed up again by filling out a membership form.

To be clear,

Everyone who was on register when we closed in March 2020 has not lost their place. So far we have only taken off people who have explicitly told us they aren’t planning on returning.
The waiting only applies to the children’s class, and there are spaces in the adults class. We would still appreciate it if students from that class could also respond if they have not done so already.

The deadline for responses is now just under a couple weeks away. If we have not heard from you by Friday 17th September 2021, we will assume you do not wish to return, and we will start offering places to those on the waiting list. Should you wish to rejoin after this point, you will be put onto the waiting list.

We would be very grateful if those students remaining could clarify whether or not they intend to return to training. You can message either Julia or Adam directly, or contact us via the website.

News Updates – August 2021

Hello all! Just a couple of quick notices.

Opening times and start times
We have noticed that students for the children’s class have been arriving at or after 7pm. When they arrive they not ready to start meaning the lesson may not actually begin until 7:10. While this may only be a few minutes, we only have a hour for class time and we would like to make every minute count.

We would like to remind parents that we open at 6:45pm, so that students have a chance to get ready before the class starts at 7pm. You don’t need to be here at 6:45, but we would like all students to be ready to start at 7pm.

Re-joining Deadline
Last week we asked all students to confirm whether or not they intended to return to training. On the whole, the majority of you have responded.

What we forgot to mention was the deadline. If we have not heard from you by Friday 17th September 2021, we will assume you do not wish to return and you will lose your place. Should you wish to rejoin after this point, you will be put onto the waiting list.

Just to be clear, everyone who was on register when we closed in March 2020 has not lost their place. We have only taken off people who have told us they don’t want return.
